Esher Environmental Services

Principles and values

Our principles stem from our twin core values of honouring God and serving others.  As such, we try to maintain the highest professional, ethical and technical standards in all that we do – to the benefit of clients and the community.

Our principles include:

  • Integrity and ethics
  • Workplace and site safety
  • Duty of care
  • Personalized service
  • Technical excellence
  • Care for the community and the environment
  • Leadership and innovation
  • Responsibility and accountability
  • Respect for clients, regulators and colleagues

Duty of care

Esher Environmental Services supports and practises the ‘duty of care’ principle, as exemplified in the South Australian EPA (2015) Guidelines for the site contamination audit system:

The EPA considers that, while auditors are engaged by their client and are subject to contractual obligations, auditors have a broader primary duty of care as, in exercising their duties, auditors have to take into account the Objects of the Act and the aims of the audit system.

In exercising their function and duties pursuant to the Environment Protection Act 1993, auditors must demonstrate a primary duty of care to the health and safety of the people of South Australia above all others (including any duty to the person who has commissioned them to conduct the audit).  Auditors must also demonstrate a duty of care to ensure the protection of the environment of South Australia.

Name

The name ‘Esher’ is the Biblical Hebrew word (אֶשֶׁר esher), which means ‘blessed’ or ‘happy’, and occurs over 40 times in the Bible, particularly in the Book of Psalms.  Our aim is that Esher Environmental Services will be a ‘blessing’ to the clients we serve, and to the community in which we live.
